Newark Constituency Labour Party

Newark CLP meets occasionally and will be preparing to campaign in the forthcoming local elections planned for May 2027.

Who we are

We are the members of the Labour Party in the Newark Constituency.

In the 2024 General Election, we ran an excellent campaign causing Robert Jenrick to fear he was going to lose. To the great regret of people in more than one party, we didn’t quite manage that, but did reduce his majority from over 21,000 to just 3,572.

What we do

At CLP meetings we hear reports from our local Labour Councillors on the Town Council and the District Council, plan and run campaigns on local issues or for local elections, discuss and pass policy, and plan publicity or fundraising events and community activities. Members also play a significant role in nominating, shortlisting and selecting the candidates for local government elections.

How you can get involved

We are always delighted to meet new members or when long-standing but absent members find time to turn up to meetings. If you are unable to attend meetings but would still like to take part in campaigning activities, please follow our Newark Labour Facebook Page and make sure to open and read the emails with minutes of meetings, etc.

We sometimes run letter-writing campaigns and we run telephone surveys of Newark residents (calls are made through the Labour Party website so it doesn’t cost you a penny).

We have an executive consisting of a chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer, youth, disability, LGBT+ and women’s officer, all of whom are elected by local members who attend the Annual General Meeting in November.
